Kadapa ( Cuddapah) is a city in the
Rayalseema region of the south-central part of Andhra Pradesh, India.It is located 8 kilometres south of the Penna River. The city is surrounded on three sides by the
Nallamala and Palakonda hills lying on the tectonic landscape being sandwiched
between the Eastern and Western ghats. The city is nicknamed "Gadapa"
('threshold') since it is the gateway from the west to the sacred hills of
Tirumala.

Devuni kadapa
Devuni kadapa:Kadapa is named after the word Gadapa it origin "Devuni Gadapa" means "Entrance
for The Lord Venkateswara Swamy". The Idol of the Lord Venkateswara has
been founded by Kripacharya, hence the ancient name of Devuni kadapa is also
mentioned in puranas as "Kripavathi Kshetram". Sri Lakshmi
Venkateshwara Temple stands as an example of Vijayanagara architecture. It is
said that Tallapaka Annamacharya visited this place and all the Sankaracharyas
of the Advaita Mutt and the great poet Kshetrayya also visited this place. This
temple was undertaken by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam.Pilgrims who are about
to visit Lord Venkateswara this is because first they have to pray Annamacharya
and potuluri veerabramhendra swamy.
One more feature of this temple is its
uniqueness of lord venkateswara features an idol of lord anjaneya in its
reverse. Devuni kadapa is stared in vijayanagara style of architecture,devuni
kadapa temple has impressive sculpture and Architecture of dancing lord
Ganapathi at mukha mandapam. Utsavas and daily puja would be done same as in
tirumalaThis temple is very famous in kadapa district, people from various
places visit this temple, and this temple is generally crowded on Saturdays.
Devuni kadapa
temple is just 7km away from railway station, 4.5km away from City Bus Station.
This temple has kasi balli which people believe that if there is any dosham
(ill effects) because of balli (lizard) those doshams shall be cleansed by
touching the kasi balli on the roof of temple.
Ameen Peer Dargah
Ameen Peer Dargah: Ameen Peer Dargah is a Sufi shrine in
the town of Kadapa. This shrine is frequented by people of all faiths and
religions and is a symbol of religious and communal harmony. Ameen Peer Dargah,
Kadapa (Asthana-e-Magdoom Ilahi Dargah complex) (Badi Dargah, Pedda Dargah) in
Kadapa (Cuddapah) is an example of the communal harmony preached by great
saints and sages in ancient days. Come Thursday and Friday, The shrine is open
every day from 5.30 am until 10 am and then again from 5 pm until 10 pm. On
Fridays, the Ameen Peer Dargah follows the same timings, but can be accessed
also between 12.30 pm to 3 pm.The scores
of pilgrims cutting across religious faiths, throng the the 332-year-old shrine
seeking blessings of saints Peerullah Hussaini and Arifullah Hussaini II who
lie buried here.
Followers of the dargah believe that any wish that one makes at the shrine is always fulfilled. A large number of Hindus, Muslims and people of different faiths are disciples of the shrine. The family’s descendants identify themselves with a saffron dresss and the disciples wear a saffron cap. Khwaja Peerullah Hussaini (popularly known as Peerullah Malik), a devout Muslim born in Bidar (Karnataka), founded the Aasthana,. Peerullah Malik was a linage to Prophet Mohammed. He visited mausoleums of all Sufi saints of India, as also that of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti at Ajmer. But local folklore, whoever comes to the shrine to pray will have his or her wishes fulfilled. The Ameen Peer Dargah is referred to as South Ajmer Dargah and Pedda Dargah of Kadapa. It is believed that the shrine was established in 1683 and the natives claim that is nearly 332years old.
Vontimitta
Vontimitta:Votimitta is located
25 km from kadapa on the State highway leading to Tirupati.It is famous for the
Kodanda Rama Swamy temple,which was
built by Chola and Vijayanagara kings.The unique feature of this temple is that
the images of Rama,Lakshmana and Sita are carved on a single piece of rock and
there is no Hanuman.
Architecturally brilliant,it has an imposing gateway, a beautiful
madapam with exquisitely carved pillars and an inner chamber ,apart from the
sanctum sanctorum.It is believed that Rama ,lakshmana and Sita spent some time
here in the fores during their excile.Rama once shot an arrow deep into the
earth to quench Sita’s thirst.Even since,it is believed,sweet water has been
gushing out of the spot.This perennial spring has since filled two small tanks
named Ramathirtham and Lakshmanathirtham excavated in the vicinity.
Brahmamgari Matham
Brahmamgari Matham: Veerabrahmam,the
famous oracle lived.Veerabrahmamentered jeeva samadhi1693.The Brahmamgari matam
was built in Kadimallypalli after his samadhi.The
Walls are corved
with the peaching and predictions of Veeerabrahmam. Carved statues and
beautiful painting of Veerabrahman made this place worth to visit. In around this Matham, there are other worthy
places like Siddaiah jeeva Samathi, Eswaramma temple and Poleramma temple. It
is located 60 km from Kadapa.
Nandalur
Nandalur:Nandalur is located
about 45km from kaapa on the banks of the Cheyyeru river.It the site of the magnificent Soumanatha Swamy temple built
during the regin of the Cholas in the 11th century A.D. A massive
compound wall girdles the temple with
its sanctum sanctrum, mandapam and lofty gopuram.A stepped well,koneru, is
another attraction here.A 20-acre Buddhist site nearby has yielded piceless items,including a Buddha
relic,lead coins,Naga carvings,15 Stupas, achaitya griha shaped like a horsehoe
and pottery stamped with Dhamachakra.
Talllapaka
Tallapaka: This is small
village, birth place of saint Annamacharya,
the famous composer of devotional
songs on Lord venkateshwara.He is the brilliant of Saint composer Annamayya,
who is believed to have written 32,000 kirthanas in praise of lord venkateswara.He made invaluble
contributions to music and literature during 15th century. Within the premises
of Annamacharya temple, there are other temples such as Chennakesaswamy temple,
Siddheswaraswamy temple and Hanuman temple made this religious significant and
serene, locate 68 km from Kadapa.Highly venerated shrines such as Siddheswara
Swamy temple and Sudharshana Chakra
Devalayam are situated here.
Gandikota Fort
Gandikota Fort: Another Famous of the ancient fort, truly
to be built on 13th century, situated on the bank of river Penna. The fort is beautified with picturesque scenic
nature and wonderful animal forest, making it one of the tourist selection. Al
though here so many interesting things can be seen such as madhavaswamy temple,
Juma Masjit, an impressive Pigeon Tower are adorned with sculptures and
plastered decorations. It is located 77 km from Kadapa.
Sangameshwara Temple
Sangameshwara Temple: It is the most famous temple of
kadapa district, built during 14th century, located at the confluence of three
rivers namely Vahini, Papagani and Pavani. It is beautifully located on a
serene valley which is surrounded by hills and forests assures calm and
peaceful ambiance. The sheer scenic beauty leaves an indelible impression.
Lankamalleswaram Wildlife Sanctuary: It is one of the
reserved forest of Andhra Pradesh,
spread around 464 sq km and houses many endangered species of birds. It is a
verdant paradise to tourists and captures heart of every beholder with its
thick, dense trees, deep valleys and steep slopes and sizzling waterfalls. One
can get to see abundant wildlife and water towers. It provides a fascinating
spectacular views of Panther, Porcupine, sloth bear, wild boar,Sambar,Chinkara, nilgai ,fox,Chitah
and several other wild life species.
The best season to visit is October to
march.Accommodation is available at the Forest Deparment rest house at
Siddavatam,which is located about 15 km from lankamalleswara Wild Life Santuary.
Other Places: Several places to visiting to Kadapa.
Ankalama Gudur, Pushpagiri temple, Bhagavan Mahavir Government Museum and Sri
Venkateshwara wild life sanctuary are the other popular spots to rejoice.
Pushpagiri is a beautiful place, which is considered
sacred as it has many temples and a favorite pilgrimage. The place is unique
has it is a symbol that stands for both Hindu faiths namely Saiva and
Vaishnava. It is famously called the Second Hampi. The largest temple in the
region is Chennakesava Swamy temple, which is frequented by tourists as well.
HOW TO REACH KADAPA
By Flight : Kadapa has an airport, located around 8 km
from the city center. Tirupati Airport is another closest airport, located 134
from Kadapa.
By Road: Some state owned and private buses are mean of road transportation.
By Train: Kadapa is located on the Chennai-Mumbai line. Kadapa,
Tirupati railway stations are the nearest railway stations.
Weather: In Summer temperature is ranging from 23-37°C,
in Winter 14-25°C . November to February are the beter months to make a visit
to Kadapa all places.
