About Vontimitta: Votimitta is located 25 km
from kadapa on the State highway main road to Tirupati and has huge space for
vehicle parking.It is famous for the Kodanda Rama Swamy temple,which was built by Chola and
Vijayanagara kings. The unique feature of this temple is that the images of
Rama,Lakshmana and Seeta are carved on a single piece of rock and there is no
Hanuman. It is one of the most beautiful Lord Rama temple in India and is
praised in the past by the famous French traveller, Tavernier in the year
1652.Garbhagudi consists of Bhagawan Sri Rama, Goddess Sita and Lord Laxmana
idol engraved on a single rock. Sri Anjaneya Swamy Temple to the right and Lord
Vinayaka Temple in a beautiful dancing posture in the main Mandapam of the
temple.Architecturally brilliant,it has an imposing gateway, a beautiful
madapam with exquisitely carved pillars and an inner chamber ,apart from the
sanctum sanctorum. It’s truly,sweet water has been gushing out of the spot.
This perennial spring has since filled two small tanks named lord Ramathirtham and lord Lakshmanathirtham excavated in the vicinity. The celebrations will be held in
the 450-year-old Sri Kodandarama temple in Vontimitta.In world only one of them Vontimitta Kodanda Ramalayam without Anjaneya swamy.
The distance of 564 km away from
Bhadrachalam. The government decided to perform the celestial wedding at
Vontimitta temple after Bhadrachalam became a part of Telangana following
bifurcation of the state last year.One will not find an idol of Lord Hanuman
along with the main deities in the sanctum sanctorum which is very rare and the
Seeta Rama kalyanam in this temple is held in the night, while it is performed
during the day elsewhere in the country.
It means, Uttara Andhra Sadhu Santh Organisation has filed a PIL in the
High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad questioning the unilateral decision of
the Andhra Pradesh government in selecting Vontimitta, and for not considering the
Ramateertham temple in Nallamarla mandal of Vizianagaram district.
The temple has 450 years old and the conduct
lord is known as Kodanda Rama Swamy. Legend is that two apostle of lord Rama,
Vontudu and Mittudu, had lead the temple in one single day Vontimitta has a
high popular as the place where the Kishkinda khanda, one among the seven
khandas of Ramayana happened. The town is gifted with the Kodanda Rama Swamy
temple.
Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanamshas (TTD)
recently taken over the Vontimitta Temple. Mahakavi Bammera Pothana exhausted his whole life here praising Sri Rama and
finally dedicated his Mahabhagavatham to God in Vontimitta.
How to Reach Vontimitta Temple:So many by buses, vehicles or trains. Chennai to Mumbai railway line and Kadapa to Tirupati bus route pass through Vontimitta. APSRTC ply frequent buses from Kadapa to Vontimitta.
