About Murudeshwar Temple: The Murudeshwar Temple is situated a village in Bhatkal Taluk of Uttara Kannada in Karnataka and India.The Murudeshwar is dedicated to Hindu god Lord Shiva. The Murudeswar statue is famed for the world's second-tallest meditation poster and the village lies on the shore of the Arabian Sea.  
   
Following to the legend exciting story about (atma-linga) narrate as to how the linga came to be recognized at this place. The great Lord Shiva devotee Ravanaand who mother has spoken a keen desire to devotion the atma-linga of Lord Shiva. Ravana has going to Kailas to perform his mother’s desires and went into hard penance. Lord Shiva was satisfied with him and asked him what he wanted. After Ravana told him that he required the atma-linga, Shiva happily with atma-linga. Before giving to atma-linga and Shiva has one condition to Ravana. When the atma-linga put in to a position and it leaves the power, unbeatable and immortal. While fearing of gods and goddess are sought the help of Vishnu and Vinayaka and used a trap on Ravana.   Ravana was passed to put the atma-linga in Gokarna. 
                            
                              When Ravana was close to Gokarna, Lord Vishnu ordered the sun to give the look of nightfall. Ravana now had to perform his evening saddle god of sun but was troubled reason that with the Atma-Linga in his hands, during Lord Vinayaka in the mask of a Brahmin child speaks out to him. Ravana ask him to hold the Atma-Linga awaiting he do his rituals, and requested him not to put it on the earth. Vinayaka bang an agreement with him maxim that he would describe Ravana thrice, and if Ravana did not return within that time, while he was continue to saddle and he would position the Atma-Linga on the earth. When he was finished his saddle and come back to find the Vinayaka. He is also put the atma-lingaon the earth. The Lord Vishnu was release sun light over again. By the reason of the force exerted by Ravana, some pieces were spotted and angry Ravana threw the textile that cover the safe in which the atmalinga was kept. The cloth is said to have going on Kanduka Giri, the site where the Murudeshwar temple is located. The textile was converted into a linga, which came to be known as Murudeshwar.

It is one of the attractive tourist place and a lovely holy place in Karnataka. It is a good-looking and sheltered little village, sacred by Pranalinga of Mahabaleshwara. Being bordered by rising and falling hills and shining sea, Murudeshwar is position as a arrogant holiday place. The adorned high way with complicated carvings is contribution warm greeting to the visitors. The prehistoric temple about 500 years old.

 By Train: Murudeshwar has its own railhead at Murudeshwara which is fairly served by trains from Mumbai.
By Air:  The nearest air port is Mangalore airport is 165 km from Murudeshwar.
