Sri Uma Maheswara Swamy [Yaganti]

 About Yaganti: Yaganti Sri Yaganti Uma Maheswara Temple is situated in Banagana palli  mandal from 14 km and  from 100 km Kurnool District in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India.

The Yaganti temple has been established for the period of duration the 14th Century A.D Vijayanagar kings and Harihara Bukka Raya. The Yaganti made the kings of Vijayanagar construct a temple in a position at Yaganti, the main towns of the time and located in the middle of some antagonistic land like the dry, rocky region of the Erramala hills.

Once he started the statue and when arrangements were being made to establish it, he found that the big toe of the statue was broken down. The muni saddened, he prayed to Lord Shiva looking for the reason. Lord Shiva come into sight before him, and say him that this place was Dakshina Kailash and therefore extra suitable to be an abode of Lord Shiva.



Yaganti has been measured a holy place as occasion ancient, the great sagacious Agastya muni is believed to have lived and penance here. Later than in Yaganti so many caves and ponds name Agastya, few of the attractive tales of Yaganti are connected with the divine sage. Sage Agastya is credited with charitable Yaganti the position of a holy land.Considering Sage Agastya, Sri Potuluri Veerabrahmendra Swamy, the 17th Century A.D prophet, also measured the Nostradamus of India, lived in Yaganti on behalf some years and made some of his predictions of the prospect known as “Kalagnanam”.
Yaganti derives as: Once a great devotee of Lord Shiva do a penance at this position and when Lord Shiva come to view before him he yelled out in joy “Ne kanti, ne kanti after that  Yaganti over the years.

Swayambu Shiva Parvathi:
  Agasthya sought a boon from the Lord that he should ever stay behind there, along with his companion Parvathi, conceding blessings to all those who prayed to him and satisfied with his devotion, Lord Shiva following together with Parvathi Devi in a single granite as a Swayambu.
 Yaganti temple near three caves: The Agasthya muni Cave is first one. In this place Agasthya did penance and Lord Shiva appeared before him. The cave has 120 steep steps to reached and it was close to 6 pm, not entered  to climb up to the caves. 
 The Lord Venkateswara Swamy Cave second one. The cave was formed by Agasthya but not situated for the reason that of a broken his toe. On Saturdays, a number of devotees climb up the steps to this cave to have a darshan of the Lord Venkateswara.
 The third cave is the Potuluri Sri Veera Brahmam , had stayed for a lot of years, and written portions of his famous work, Kalagnanam. 

No crows in Yaganti:
 The high priest also notify that while Sage Agasthya was do penance here, Kakasura, an asura in the form of a crow, had been troubling the sage's penance.  The sage evil him, saying that no crows should be present within Yaganti .
