About Hampi :  Hampi is positioned on the banks of the Tungabhadra River. It is 353 km from Bangalore. Hampi is one of the well-known historical villages in northern Karnataka state, India. It is located within the dilapidation of Vijayanagara Empire from 14th to 16th centuries. The dilapidation is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, listed as the Group of Monuments at Hampi. The meaning of Hampi is a “Winner". The name is derivative from Pampa, which is the old name of the Tungabhadra River. The name “Hampi” is description of the Kannada Hampe, derivative from ‘Pampa’. Hampi has historical & mythological importance.




The city of Hampi was recognized in the year 1336 AD and it houses numerous marquees, beautifully constructed stables of the king’s elephants, bustling marketplaces, massive forts, stunning monuments, sacred temples and outstanding palaces. For the Hindus, Hampi is a holy region as it is the home place of Pampa. During its olden days of fame, Hampi was a prosperous business hub, particularly for the deal of jewelry and horses. The myth goes that in Hampi diamonds were put up for sale on the streets.  At present, the major occupation for the population of Hampi constitutes tourism, mining and agriculture. Ores of iron and manganese are abundantly found in the area.
The Hampi is situated in the northeastern part of Aneganda Vittala temple complex it is the reverse side of the village and belong to indication to the art of temple structural design. The Marathies was prayer to the Lord Vishnu in the temple. The temple belongs to the 16th century. This temple has been celebrations of worship to Puramdaradas.Hampi with all its primeval architectural magnificence is sure to indulge every tourist in the lively legends that intertwine with the city’s history. It is the perfect place to experience the confluence of culture and spirituality.The Virupaksha temple is one of the most important structures located amongst the dilapidation at Hampi. Hampi is about 12kms from the town of Hospet. The dilapidation of Hampi has been grant the status of the UNESCO World Heritage site and is under the security and preservation of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).

 The temple's history is continuous from about the 7th century. However the main temple is built ,the king in Vijianagaram. The temple has unexpectedly remains damage in the hands of the attacker since the war of Talikota in the 16th century after lots of of the monuments were methodically smashed or defaced by the occupy armies.  This temple is devoted to Lord Shiva who resides here in the form of Virupaksha. His companion is deity Pampa or Pampavati which is one more name for the River Tungabhadra. In this temple situated the huge monolithic Nandi idol and which is visible to outside of the one kilometer.

How To Reach Hampi:
By Road: Hampi is well connected by bus services from all major cities and towns. There are many private buses,state buses that run from place to place so tourists can easily reach the place. It is distance to Bangalore from 372 km travelled to by road.
 By Train: The nearest railhead from Hampi is Hospet that is at a distance of 13 km and Kariganur 10 km. Hospet is well connected to major cities and town.    By Air: The nearest international airport Bellary airport is located at a distance of 60 km. The domestic airport nearby Bangalore around is 350 km away.
